Diagnosing Chronic Fatigue? Check for Sinusitis
A new study published in the August 11 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine demonstrates a possible link between unexplained chronic fatigue and sinusitis, two conditions previously not associated with each other. Also newly noted was a relationship between sinusitis and unexplained body pain. With further investigation, these findings might offer new hope to patients lacking a diagnosis and treatment for fatigue and pain.
The Outsiders: Yes, the Pain & Fatigue of Fibromyalgia are Real. Now, What About the Diagnosis?
Americans with fibromyalgia see an average of four doctors before they receive a diagnosis. While fibromyalgia isn’t the only condition difficult to diagnose – the same kinds of stories apply to those with autoimmune forms of arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, Lyme disease and lupus – it is one of the few that burdens the patient beyond the distress of physical symptoms with medical uncertainty, doctors’ judgments and varying opinions and, yes, sometimes stigma.
Curcumin May Be an Effective Therapy for Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) refers to Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, debilitating illnesses characterized by chronic recurrent ulceration of the bowel, abdominal pain, digestive problems, diarrhea or constipation. In a new study, researchers have shown that curcumin, a component of the spice turmeric, holds promise as a treatment for severe inflammatory bowel problems.

CFIDS Lobby Day 2003
Congressional Activities: Lobby Day
Personal contact from voters who care about CFIDS is the secret weapon in the CFIDS advocacy arsenal. To facilitate contact with elected officials, The CFIDS Association of America sponsors an annual Washington, D.C., Lobby Day event. This year, Lobby Day will be held September 17-18, 2003.
On Lobby Day, CFIDS advocates from around the country, including persons with CFIDS (PWCs) and their family members and friends, come together on Capitol Hill to personally educate Congress about CFIDS and ask for help in securing an improved federal response to the illness.
