Project in Scotland to Encourage ME/CFS Work Opportunities
The Long-Term Conditions Alliance Scotland (www.ltcas.org.uk) offers many services including employment coaching services. From July 2010 to June 2011 they conducted a study to define a job model intended to define workable employment structures that would lead to job opportunities for some people with ME/CFS.
To read the report on this project click HERE. To quote from the report, “The SKS model of employment is based on an ‘associate’ structure, where people are self employed but provided with work which is carried out in their home environment, largely at times and to a schedule that suits them. The work is allocated on a ‘per day’ basis and is remunerated accordingly. This business model was thought to be a good fit with the requirements confirmed by the research as being necessary to support people with M.E. engage in the workplace.” – J

Considerations Regarding Social Media If You’re on Disability
Be really careful what you put on Facebook about yourself …. because it can be old info [or photos] from before you were disabled and taken the wrong way.
I read an article where someone posted a photo of them doing an activity BEFORE they ever became disabled and I believe it was a disability insurance company that terminated their insurance because they monitored facebook and other social places. The person had to fight to get the termination lifted. That’s how it can be unfair, but that disability insurance company did it and didn’t check it out first. – T
Check Your Hospital for Info About Caregiver Support Groups
Once a month, [my] newspaper runs a section on healthy living and lists so many support groups. I found that several hospitals are sponsoring Caregiver Support Groups meeting there, and I thought that was such a wise idea. Caregivers need support and resources, and hospitals have access to so much information AND to so many people in the community who can help Caregivers. So perhaps this is a new way to get information and help to Caregivers. – T
