Impatient for Better Meds
Now days every commercial is about Lyrica. It seems to me that someone got stuck with this new med and now we sufferers are stuck with it. It's a pretty good med "for now." I take it, but I have to deal with a migraine the next morning. So I debate between pain or migraine. Today it's been an overwhelming day for me. I ask myself almost every day, “When am I going to see the light at the end of the tunnel? It seems like I'm going through the Lincoln Tunnel in the morning rush hour and time seems endless.
When are we going to reach the other side? I know that we are in a much better position today than where we were five years ago. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but impatient/un-hopeful? Yes! Love to all who are suffering with this horrible illness… – Alina
To Drink or Not To Drink
I don’t know, I’ve never had a problem drinking and I’ve had fibro for years! I generally have 2-3 glasses of wine in the evening when I’m in a “drinking mood” and not on a diet and I don’t get drunk. I’m not an alcoholic – I just like wine. When I’m trying to lose weight I’ve stopped drinking wine for months. I do tend to stay away from hard liquor now, although I drank it when I was in my 20s and 30s. Maybe I’m an aberration! – Susan
* * * *
Glad that I am not the only one. I come from a family with a lot of social drinkers. I have tried to keep up for years – always getting incredibly sick. Finally my slow brain realized to just never touch the stuff again – hello! I started having problems with alcohol in college, but didn't come down with Fibro/CFS until my mid 30's. Finally I know that I am not crazy. I am glad to hear others’ stories. These are not fun times and I wish that there was a cure so this type of chat didn't need to exist, but until then, I now know that I am not the lone ranger. – J
Explaining FM to Others
I found a great book that explains it well. It is called Parting the Fog: The Personal side of Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome [by Sue Jones]. It does an amazing job of explaining a lot of fibromyalgia. It also has places where you can insert your own story at the end of each chapter… It is excellent! – N

Importance of Protein for FM
Re: “Why weight gain is a Problem with Fibro and What to Do About It” by Dr. Pellegrino
I just loved this great article because it gives so much important information that not even doctors know. Everything is true. I never knew how important protein was for fibro people until I read this article… Every time I have the chance I come visit the site and I find so much to learn about this chronic illness (fibro) that I have for almost 7 years now, and I can see how much I gained. Keep up the good work because I know that like me there are other people who need to learn more about this matter. – S
