Doctors Gambling on Placebos
…I guess some doctors like to gamble. By giving a patient a placebo they are gambling the patient doesn’t find out. They are gambling that the patient is suggestible. If the patient is not suggestible the doctor then becomes the CAUSE of the suffering as much as the disease and even adds to the suffering. They are gambling they will not face a lawsuit for causing pain and suffering. And the big one, they are gambling that on the day the patient finds out, he/she is not suffering mood swings and rage from the illness. – sundog
Side Effects from Artificial Sweeteners

Have to tell you the side effect I suffer when I ingest artificial sweeteners – particularly aspartame. I suffer from migraines and the scariest one is, I lose 95% of my hearing in my left ear. I lost my hearing for almost a year (I already have 40% to 70% loss in both ears) before I made the discovery that artificial sweeteners (Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi, 44 oz a day minimum) was responsible.
I was on a bit of a health kick after trying Fibro AMJ™ and Transfer Factor for the treatment of my Fibromyalgia and getting major improvements. I decided to quit soda cold turkey and within 2 weeks my hearing came back. I didn’t make the connection until 2 weeks after that when I stopped to get a meal and I ordered a Diet Coke. The next day my hearing in my left ear was gone again. After trying to figure out what happened I realized it was the soda.
Luckily my hearing came back within 3 days, but now I am really careful about reading labels and not consuming artificial sweeteners. Good thing I really like water!
That was 2 years ago; I have not had a migraine since. Occasionally I will get a headache whereas before I didn’t know what it was like to NOT have a headache… – Dawn
Sinus Problems from Milk
I had doctors treat me with antibiotics for my sinus “infections” quite a few times, only to find out finally that what I really suffer from is a milk allergy. I don’t have lactose intolerance, but it is an allergy to the milk protein. I don’t get sneezy or a runny nose, but my sinuses clog up and I get terrible sinus headaches. – Vicki
How I Eat Healthier – My Recipe
I started eating healthier by eating “The Shake” in the morning. This really cut down my sugar cravings and started me out in a healthy way every day. I used to eat cereal every morning, and by mid-morning, I was starving. This Shake carries me through until lunch time. It also helps with sleep, digestion and depression.
I actually make an entire blender full. I eat half of it in the morning, ¼ of it at lunch time along with my regular lunch, and the last ¼ when I get home from work. Eating that last portion when I get home from work keeps me from reaching for an Oreo or something else not so healthy before dinner.
Once you have all the ingredients on hand, it goes very quickly. It takes me 10 minutes to make each morning, and that includes clean up time. You do need to have a blender to make it.
1 apple, cored w/peel on, cut into pieces (I like Gala apples)
½ banana, cut into pieces
1 T. molasses (I use Grandma’s)
BLEND until smooth
Frozen fruit (I use strawberries, cherries, pineapple, blueberries)
BLEND until smooth, adding more water if needed
2 T ground flax seed
1 T whey protein powder
BLEND until everything is mixed together
Eat 5 or 6 almonds while making this shake.
Experiment with the amount of water and fruit. If your shake is too thick, add more water. If it is too thin, add a couple more pieces of fruit. The frozen fruit substitutes for using ice and keeps it nice and cold. You can also use fresh fruit if you have it on hand. Use any fruit or fruit combination that YOU like. I occasionally use peaches and mangos. Yum. I personally don’t really like raspberries or blackberries because of all the little seeds.
Oh, and you must drink this through a straw. That part is crucial. lol. I really do use a straw every time. Once I tried just drinking it straight from the glass, and it just wasn’t the same. Go figure! Try it! You’ll like it! – TwinMa
How I Avoid Wasting My Energy
• I don’t have a lot of strength so I use “wipes” for my cleaning and do it more often. Sometimes just one table at a time or one part of the room at a time, depending on my body. I also bought a magic bullet to help chopping, etc. duties.
• I can’t cook (making “Top Ramen” is about the longest I can handle) so I bought a rotisserie (for home cooked meals) and a microwave. When I go shopping I get microwaveable meals. I even get “Ensure” because there are days I don’t have enough strength to even make a sandwich.
• I don’t waste my energy fighting my body. I am on disability and if I feel I need to sleep at 2 p.m. then I do. Fighting my body is wasting too much energy.
• I surround myself with people who understand that I am ill, and make sure I don’t feel guilty saying “I’m too tired and can’t talk on the phone/in person,” etc.
• Also, since I live on disability I live in a tiny studio apt (my treehouse) that is small and easy to keep uncluttered so I don’t overstimulate myself at home.
• And since I surround myself with good family I ask for help with laundry, scrubbing floors, grocery shopping.
• I have found a pharmacy that delivers my prescriptions, and have found a company that makes deliveries (since I can’t drive).
