We are proud to announce that Pro Health’s total donations for 1999 amounted to a 20% increase over 1998!
That means that each time you make a purchase through Health Resource — the catalog or the website — a portion of that money goes directly toward donations that support research to study the causes and possible cures for CFIDS, ME and FM. Donations are made to help support non-profit organizations who help us “fight the good fight” against these diseases and by increasing public awareness, and providing funding to doctors and researchers working daily to find the answers to the questions these diseases raise. We call our commitment to research funding “commerce with compassion” and it is the foundation of Health Resource.
As we begin the year 2000, our goal is to surpass our donation totals from last year. One of the ways we do this is to increase our audience – and we’ve started off with a bang! Our latest joint effort takes us all the way to London, England with an organization called “Action for M.E.” (throughout Europe, CFIDS is called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, or ME). This international relationship will introduce Health Resource to Action for ME’s 8,000 members; a venture that will join two continents in a shared cause.
Action for ME is a UK based national membership organization and registered charity. It is supported by its members and by donations from individuals, local ME support groups, businesses and trusts. In their own words, the goals of Action for ME are:
* to campaign for more
recognition, research, better
care, and benefits for ME
* to fund research, particularly
into treatments for ME
* to raise awareness of ME
within the government,
media, health care organiza-
tions and general public
* to provide information,
self-help and support services
to people with ME, their
careers, family and friends
Although Action for ME is a non-profit organization, we share many of the same goals. As we begin to move into the new millennium, our goal is to unite our efforts with similar non-profit organizations. This cooperation will help join all of us and further our efforts toward greater CFIDS/ME/FM recognition, acceptance, and treatments for the diseases from which so many suffer.
