Jenny Craig Inc. is a weight management service designed to help dieters learn a healthy way of eating and to build a new active lifestyle. Dieters can sign up for one of two programs, including an in-center service that provides weekly private meetings and support from a nutritional consultant at a local Jenny Craig office, or a direct program that lets the dieter discuss their diet plan with a consultant over the phone. Each program is custom designed to meet the client’s personal weight loss goals.

This program emphasizes three principles for good health and weight loss, which includes learning to eat healthy and developing an active lifestyle as a part of an overall balanced approach to living.

Healthy Eating

In developing a healthy eating plan, the jenny Craig program emphasizes low fat cooking and portion control as a part of an overall principle of building a healthy relationship with food. To do so, consultants teach clients to be careful about what they eat, and reassure them that certain foods are not “off limits” and can be eaten in moderation. The company also offers a wide range of food products that can be delivered to the dieter’s home for a reliable and structured diet plan. Once dieters become comfortable with the healthy types and amounts of food they can eat, delivery is discontinued.

Physical Activity

To promote regular activity, program consultants offer tips and advice to help the dieter adjust their lifestyle to become more active. It encourages dieters to build up to 30 minutes of exercise a day through a combination of planned and playful physical activities, emphasizing every little bit of activity counts. The program also offers a variety of exercise products and motivational aids to get dieters started.

Balanced Lifestyle

In the third area for success, the program stresses a balanced approach to living. This includes managing stress and emotion, relaxing and simplifying the person’s daily life. Consultants give advice and offer techniques on problem-solving strategies, breathing exercises, fighting anxiety and how to manage priorities.
