Fibromyalgia Drug Milnacipran Successful in Phase II Study
Milnacipran-treated patients showed statistically significant overall improvement and improvement in pain intensity, according to results presented at the 22nd Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Pain Society in a symposium entitled, “Fibromyalgia: Current Understanding and Future Directions.” Read more about the research here.
Restless Legs Syndrome: Sufferers Describe Painful and Distressing Leg Symptoms That Can Disrupt Sleep [Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome news]
Requip significantly improves symptoms of Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) and is a generally well-tolerated treatment, according to the results of a study presented at the 55th American Academy of Neurology (AAN) annual meeting in Honolulu. Since RLS affects over half of fibromyalgia patients and some Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients as well, this study is promising for those seeking treatment.
Defining an Illness: A Look at the Text and Philosophies of the 1994 Revised Case Definition for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
According to Craig Maupin of the CFIDS Report, “It doesn’t take an advanced scientific pedigree to realize that what the authors of the CDC Case Definition for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) were crafting was a recipe for confusion. It also doesn’t take a rocket scientist to come to the conclusion that this is not subgrouping. Failure to classify patients by distinct symptoms has led to a severe loss of respect for the CFS research community.”
