On Friday, June 10, the New Jersey State Senate voted unanimously – 38 to zero – in favor of (Senate Resolution (SR) 20) whereby the NJ Legislature will encourage creation/funding of a research center in Newark dedicated to studying “multi-system and complex illnesses” such as ME/CFS, FM, MCS, chronic Lyme, and Gulf war illness (collectively termed “NeuroEndocrineImmune” or NEI disorders).
As stipulated in SR 20, NJ legislators will begin encouraging funding for the NEI Center™ project by sending copies of the resolution to the Governor of New Jersey and Commissioner of Health & Senior Services, and to key members of the U.S. Congress.
The NEI Center™ is “a patient-driven community project of P.A.N.D.O.R.A.* Inc. in partnership with The Lanford Foundation-Lifelyme, Inc.” To view their website explaining the envisioned NEI Center™, go to www.neicenter.com.
CALL TO ACTION: Sign Petition Today Urging US Secretary of Health to Meet with NEI Center™ Advocates
P.A.N.D.O.R.A.* Founder Marly Silverman has posted a petition that advocates can quickly sign online, asking for a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Health Kathleen Sebelius to urge her support for funding of the envisioned NEI Center™.
The philosophy underlying creation of this center is that the different NEI disorders involve responses to similar underlying pathophysiologies.
