Norway Bans ME/CFS Patient Blood Donations – Dec 10

According to news translated to English from Norwegian blog posts such as this one, Norway’s Directorate of Health – responding to “a sea of e-mails” and other influences – has issued a letter forbidding blood donation by people diagnosed with ME/CFS.

The letter apparently states (roughly translated) that nobody who feels sick should give blood. Therefore “it follows that patients diagnosed with ME/CFS should not be accepted as blood donors.”

And while they do not believe there are grounds yet to assume that ME can be transmitted, the limitation is being required “for safety’s sake.”
