ProHealth Staffer Raising Awareness of Massage Therapy Benefits for Fibromyalgia

Sheila Cruthirds – ProHealth’s Director of Print Marketing and a Fibromyalgia patient – will be the focus of a story in an upcoming issue of a leading national women’s magazine on “Massage as a Treatment for Fibromyalgia.”

Sheila now knows she has had both Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for more than 12 years, but was only diagnosed officially three years ago. Her own experience as a pro-active patient is that “some medications have proven to be helpful, but vitamins and supplements and alternative therapies, including massage, have been by far the most beneficial” in easing her symptoms.

Sheila was selected to be the focus of this high-profile magazine’s feature story as a result of her recent participation in the National Fibromyalgia Association’s “Leaders Against Pain Advocacy and Media Training Seminar” in March 2006.

The seminar involved selected Fibromyalgia support group leaders and advocates from around the country, including well-placed marketing and communications professionals such as Sheila. Its purpose was to “fine-tune” these leaders’ techniques for raising Fibromyalgia awareness in the media.

We will alert you when Sheila’s story hits the newsstands. Also, watch for our own “Meet the Patient” feature on Sheila’s search for helpful treatments and answers, in an upcoming newsletter.
