The concept of affective spectrum disorder: relationship to fibromyalgia (FM) & other syndromes of chronic fatigue & chronic muscle pain

MCM: FM is frequently comorbid w other disorders (CFS, irritable

bowel S, migraine and muscle tension HA, atypical facial pain,

major depression, and panic disorder.) Suggest a larger family

or spectrum of disorders (including also cataplexy, ADHD,

bulimia, generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder,

post-traumatic stress, and social phobia), in which a shared

pathophysiology is suggested by response to anti-depressants.
