Alzheimer’s Disease: Update on Research, Treatment, and Care

When: May 2-3, 2002

Where: U.S. Grant Hotel, San Diego, California

Introduction:

The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Annual Conference presents the latest developments in research, treatment, and care for Alzheimer’s disease physicians and caregivers. The conference features keynote speaker Dr. Fred Gage, of the Salk Institute. Dr. Gage is an international expert in the field of neurogenesis (the creation of nerve cells). The generation of new nerve cells offers a new potential for treatments that may slow or even reverse the course of Alzheimer’s disease. As an optional feature the conference includes a demonstration on cooking for long-term care. The class is held offsite, and is targeted to facility caregivers and staff involved in dietary preparation, but is applicable to anyone who cares for an Alzheimer’s patient.
