Less than a third of women between the ages of 18 and 45 meet their daily requirement of birth-defect preventing folic acid, according to a recent Gallup poll. The March of Dimes recommends that women get their 400 micrograms of the B vitamin in supplement form but also lists fortified cereals and oatmeal, navy beans, orange juice, and raw spinach as folate-rich foods.
