Acupuncture may be an effective way to relieve arthritis pain, but before you begin keep these tips in mind:
Acupuncture should not be a replacement for standard medical treatment and should be discussed with you physician.
Always insist on sterile, disposable needles to avoid transmission of infection from dirty needles, and check for hygienic procedures such as swabbing the puncture site with alcohol.
Be sure to ask the acupuncturist for credentials and/or certification.
Check with your health insurance company to see if they offer benefits for acupuncture, about 70% of companies offer coverage.
