Everyday activities can be painful when you have arthritis, including trips to beauty salon or barber. Let your stylist or barber know if you have arthritis and explain that your muscles may become stiff or sore. If you have been in one position for too long, take a break and walk around if necessary, and if you have your hair washed, try using a towel like a sling to support your neck as you come up from the shampoo sink. Also ask the stylist to support your head or neck if he/she needs you to move for washing, cutting or styling your hair.
