As is the case with heart disease, folic acid (a B vitamin) is in the spotlight as a memory and cognitive-function enhancer for the aging brain; this B vitamin may help because of its ability to reduce levels of homocysteine, which is linked to declining brain function. Vitamins C and E have also been linked with a lowered risk and slowed progression of Alzheimer’s disease.
