Tip of the Day

According to an article by Neal Conaty, LaA.c, Dipl. Ac (NCCAOM), published in the winter 1999-2000 issue of Lifeline, the quarterly newsletter of the Wisconsin Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Association, Inc., “Fibromyalgia (FM) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) are marked by global symptoms: pain in many areas of the body at once, fatigue, poor sleep and digestive disturbances to name a few. Acupuncture, with its homoeostatic effect, can be a powerful tool in combating these symptoms…Immediate effects of acupuncture include increased relaxation and pain relief. People often note improved sleep and digestion as well. With continuing treatment, FM and CFS flares can become less and less frequent…it is important that the acupuncturist has experience dealing with chronic conditions and that they are comfortable with a physician and the other practitioners on the [patient’s] healthcare team.”
