Eating a balanced diet will help support the immune system, says Leslie Bonci, R.D., a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association and director or sports nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. That means getting enough protein, essential fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins A, C and E.
