A recent study of strength training for women with fibromyalgia (FMS) shows that both the magnitude and time course of adaptations of the neuromuscular system to resistance training in FMS were comparable to the adaptations seen in healthy women. In this small sample, the basal levels of anabolic hormones seem to be similar in FMS compared to age matched healthy women. However, during acute loading conditions there was some evidence for a training induced adaptation of the endocrine system.
