According to I. Jon Russell, M.D., Ph.D., a highly respected FM researcher and clinical practitioner, “the most dramatic laboratory abnormality, found in most FM patients (>80%), is a consistently elevated, stable level of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) substance P (SP).
