Tip of the Day

Through the application of gentle pressure to acupuncture points throughout the body, shiatsu aims to bring about balance in a person's energy flow, thus going deeper than a normal massage. The philosophy underlying shiatsu is that vital energy (known as Ki in Japanese) flows throughout the body in a series of channels called meridians. In Eastern medicine, it is believed that symptoms of ill health are produced when this energy flow is blocked for any reason. A shiatsu practitioner will consider your state of health, the symptoms you are experiencing, and, depending on your consitution and general energy levels, will use a variety of techniques aimed at improving or "balancing out" your energy flow.
