According to Harris McIlwain, M.D., “Malic acid, derived from the food you eat, may play a key role in energy production, especially for those with arthritis and related diseases. In several studies, patients with FMS and other types of arthritis took malic acid. Within 48 hours of supplementation, almost all had reduction of pain. Likewise, upon discontinuation of malic acid, the improvement was quickly lost.”
