Evening primrose, a sweet herb, is used to treat inflammatory conditions and has been recommended for arthritis because the oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) – also found in borage seeds and black currant seeds. GLA is an essential fatty acid (EFA) that helps to reduce inflammation associated with allergic response by aiding in the production of prostaglandins that counter inflammation.
