Vitamin D cuts falls in older people by over 20% according to research

Falls among older people can be cut by over 20% if they take vitamin D supplements, according to new research. A meta-analysis published in the Journal of the American Medical Association looked at data from ten randomised controlled trials. Vitamin D users were 22% less likely to experience a fall than patients who received placebo or calcium. The authors estimate that 15 subjects would need to receive daily vitamin D supplements in order to prevent 1 person from falling.
