Magnesium is a mineral essential to the energy-producing cycle within the body. Like CoQ10, it is part of the reaction that produces ATP (the body's energy source). Without it, you can't make ATP. Since our bodies do not produce magnesium, it must be obtained from foods we eat such as wheat bran, almonds, fruits, fish, and legumes. Modern food-processing techniques often strip magnesium from food, so unless you eat a diet consisting of fresh unprocessed foods, you may not be getting enough magnesium.
