Cinnamon Bark (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) Essential Oil has a bright Cinnamon aroma! While many aldehydes are cooling, Cinnamaldehyde is hot and stimulating.
Used mostly for diffuser blends as the Cinnamaldehyde makes it virtually impossible to use on the skin. (Very high skin sensitiser). Only use 2-3 drops in a blend.
Cinnamon bark is distilled from the new shoots of the inner bark of the tree. It is no wonder this essential oil brings warmth and energy to the present moment, especially when feeling withdrawn and separated. Dennis Willmont states in Aromatherapy with Chinese Medicine, "Cinnamon bark is one of the strongest natural antibacterial agents known...It is the classic assistant oil in that it boosts the actions of other more directional oils." Blends well with citrus oils such as lemon and orange.
Many cultures also rely upon Cinnamon Bark for its internal use where its antispasmodic and anti-infectious effects are remarkable. In the tropical areas it is also used internally for intestinal parasites.
