Dr. David Bell, MD, has been treating ME/CFS patients and researching their illness for 25 years. Currently he is writing a 25-year follow-up paper on the people who were affected as youngsters by an outbreak following a mono-like illness – one of the first to attract world attention - in Lyndonville, New York, where Dr. Bell has his practice.

Topics covered include:

Dr. Bell's surprise finding, in the 25-year ‘Lyndonville Kids’ follow-up, that the 80% recovery rate reported in 1995 was misleading. It was improvement of one particular symptom that typically caused ‘recovered’ patients to describe themselves as well in the 1995 survey, and this should be considered in XMRV research & blood donation guidelines. Full text of his presentation on this subject at the May 23 IiME Conference is offered in the Spring issue of the Journal of IiME.

Comments on reports attempting to refute relevance of XMRV findings in the Whittemore Peterson Institute Science paper.

His personal appeal “to my friends with ME/CFS” asking persons to contribute $10 each to the WPI to speed the progress of current virological research: “It is absurd to think that a few $10 bills will change anything… But here is the letter I wrote. And I have sent in my $10 check.”

A question about post-viral CFS and XMRV in Dubbo study subjects.
