Don’t let anybody have cold feet! Annual holiday-time Socks for Seniors sock drives have been multiplying across the US as community-minded adults and kids in towns everywhere have become involved in this low-cost, high-love idea.
You can read about it and sign up to receive a free Socks for Seniors kit at www.SocksForSeniors.com. You can also register your project or see if there’s an existing project near you that you can join starting November 1. (We found one in our town.)
Care/housing facilities, shelters and shut-in services can sign up at www.SocksForSeniors.com/ to receive socks in this year’s drive.
Ideas include ‘sock trees’ for schools, companies, and other organizations, ‘sock hops,’ fun sock decorating parties, and sockathons or sock-knitting lessons for knitters.* Groups can share ideas on the Socks for Seniors Facebook page.
* For example, we found links to many free sock knitting patterns online at (Knitting Pattern Central); and we found many videos on how to tie-die tube socks.
