Magnesium: The Missing Key to Your Health?
One mineral…magic in a bottle? Considering the role magnesium plays as an essential mineral and a cofactor for hundreds of enzyme reactions…the answer is a resounding YES!

Magnesium is found mostly in our bones, but not only is it necessary for healthy bones, but also the proper function of nerves, muscles, stomach acid and bowel function including maintaining healthy electrical balance required for normal heart rhythm.i

According to a recent study from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, women with the highest blood levels of magnesium had a 77% lower risk of sudden cardiac death compared to women in the lowest range!ii

Another study of 7,000 men from the Honolulu Heart Program found that those with the highest magnesium intake had a reported 45% lower risk of coronary heart disease than those with reduced intake.iii
A systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective studies revealed that higher serum levels of magnesium correlated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. Higher dietary magnesium intakes (up to approximately 250 mg/day) were associated with a dramatically lower risk of ischemic heart disease or reduced blood supply to the heart muscle.iv

And this is the short list of studies on magnesium’s effect on heart health.

What’s on your plate?

Some of the highest sources of magnesium are found in dark, green leafy vegetables, bananas, avocados, peas, beans, almonds, and cashews.v  However, on average, most daily diets lend themselves to bland, processed foods, rather than a rainbow of carefully prepared meals.

A lack of nutrition coupled with the following risk factors can cripple magnesium’s function in the body.
