ACFS-focused documentary film project entitled I Remember Me is in a preliminary phase of production. The project has been created by New York-based producer, Kim Snyder, who most recently associate produced an Oscar- winning short film before being stricken with CFS. The project aims to raise greater awareness about CFS and inspire hope within the CFS struggle by examining the impact it has on the lives of its sufferers, and highlighting the broader issues that CFS brings to bear on society at large.

The disparity between the devastation that the illness wreaks in the lives of those afflicted, both physically and emotionally, and the information most readily accessible to the public via media and medical sources is staggering. The purpose is to create a film that will, in an intimate manner, inform, enlighten, and move the audience by sharing the experiences of diverse individuals stricken with this mysterious illness. The film will also provide historical context to the disease, latest medical findings, exploration of cluster outbreaks, and insight into the roles that the government and the media have played in the disease's unfolding.

The documentary envisioned is created with the idea of speaking universally to both CFS audiences and to a public that knows little about the illness. For all audiences, a moving story will unravel a shocking portrait of a disease of epidemic proportion that continues to devastate the lives of millions and elude scientists, throughout the world. The story presented will attempt to reflect universal issues of sickness and health and a rare view of new medical, environmental, and spiritual challenges that society now faces at the close of the 20th century.

We stand at the vanguard of an illness not yet properly enculturated into the current thinking of society. We, as a community need to create new language that informs and evokes compassion for CFS sufferers in the future. Film can be a powerful tool in creating this new language. We hope you can help an exciting project aimed to raise greater awareness to CFS in a creative manner that is poignant, hopeful, and insightful.

The first seed money has been raised from CFS families and each individual dollar can help. We invite you to support I Remember Me with a check made out to Healthwatch earmarked for the film. Any amount can be valuable. Please send all checks or inquiries directed to the film makers by mail to: The CFTDS/FM Health Resource, 1187 Coast Village Rd #1-280, Santa Barbara, CA 93108.
