On Saturday, May 19, the Connecticut CFIDS & FM Association Spring Conference in Westbrook, CT, will feature an update on “Recent Advances in CFS/ME and FM” from David S. Bell, MD.
Dr. Bell, an internationally recognized expert on CFS/ME and FM, will also answer the audience’s questions on “Hot Topics” regarding CFS and FM research, management, and treatment.
Additionally, the conference will feature “Excerpts from the 8th International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Other Related Illnesses Conference, held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida” in January.

Admission Fee
Admission is $15 for Association members and $20 for the general public. (Attendees are asked to please refrain from using scented products - such as hairspray, gel, perfume, lotion, aftershave – because many in the audience will be sensitive to fragrances.)
Brief Background on Dr. Bell
According to the CT CFIDS & FM Association announcement:
“Dr. David Bell graduated from Harvard and later Boston University School of Medicine. He completed specialty training in pediatrics with a subspecialty in pediatric behavior and developmental disorders. He practices family medicine in private practice in Lyndonville, New York. Approximately half of his patients suffer from CFS, FM, and orthostatic intolerance.
”In 1985 clusters of a mysterious illness began to break out in the U.S. Some were located in the communities surrounding Lyndonville. These outbreaks prompted scientific studies which continue today. The mysterious illness has been identified as CFS. Since that time Dr. Bell has played a prominent role in caring for CFS/FM patient communities.
”Dr. Bell has published and contributed to numerous scientific papers on CFS. He is the Chairman of the Advisory Committee for CFS of the Department of Health and Human Services, and serves on the IACFS board. He is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Bell’s publications include A Disease of a Thousand Names (1988) and The Doctor’s Guide to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (1990)." He is also a member of the Campaign for a Fair Name Expert Advisory Committee.

From New York City, New Haven, and West:
Interstate 95 North to Connecticut Exit 65. Right turn at exit ramp to second stop light in center of town. Left onto Route 1 North (Boston Post Road). Go up about half a mile. Water's Edge entrance will be on your right.
From Hartford, Springfield and North:
Interstate 91 South or I-84 West to Hartford. From Hartford, take I- 91 South to Route 9. Then Route 9 South to Exit 3. Go through stop sign to second stop sign. Turn right onto Route 153 South and follow to the end of route until intersection with Route 1 in Westbrook. At light, turn left onto Route 1 North (Boston Post Road). Go up about half a mile. Water's Edge entrance will be on your right.
From Boston, Providence and East:
Interstate 95 South to Connecticut Exit 65. Left turn at the exit ramp to the third stop light in the center of Westbrook. Left turn at light onto Route 1 North (Boston Post Road). Go up about half a mile. Water's Edge entrance will be on your right.
