ProHealth Longevity Niagen®

Clinically Proven to Raise NAD+

Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) serves as a precursor to Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+), a coenzyme involved in metabolic reactions that fuel cellular functions, promote heart health, and support cognition. As a type of Vitamin B3,patented Niagen® NR contributes to the NAD+ biosynthesis pathway, a recycling mechanism that generates NAD+ from inactive forms of nicotinamide, including NR. Studies have demonstrated that taking a Niagen® NR supplement effectively enhances NAD+ levels, making it a viable strategy for maintaining optimal NAD+ concentrations in the body for those over 40.

Lab-Tested for Benefits You Can Feel

Research has linked taking an NR supplement to enhanced cardiovascular health, cognitive performance, and neurological function, as well as favorable gene expression and body weight management. By serving as an efficient NAD+ precursor, nicotinamide riboside not only sustains cellular energy production and DNA repair mechanisms but also contributes to the regulation of circadian rhythms and inflammatory responses. Consequently, NR, particularly in the patented form of Niagen®, holds promise as a valuable component of a comprehensive approach to health optimization and lifespan extension.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the form of NR matter?

The form of NR supplement is ultimately up to the delivery method you prefer. Each offers unique benefits, however the NAD+ boosting effects are the same for each type of NR we carry.

Should I take NR on an empty stomach or with food?

NR is water-soluble, so it can be taken with or without food. Some people who have sensitive digestion find that taking NR with food helps to avoid any potential stomach discomfort.

How do I store NR?

Store NR in a cool, dry place. Humidity will destroy the product, so avoid storing it in the bathroom.

Will NR make me look younger?

NR is proven to increase circulating NAD+ levels to support the youthful function of all your cells, including your skin, but we can’t guarantee an NR supplement will make you look younger. Maintaining healthy lifestyle habits in combination with supplements can help support a healthier life.

What other nutrients work synergistically with NR?

Two ingredients found in our NR Pro Complete, Resveratrol and TMG work synergistically with NR. Resveratrol boosts the effectiveness of NR and TMG helps to replace methyl groups.

What supplements contain nicotinamide riboside?

There are numerous supplements on the market containing some form of nicotinamide riboside (NR). However, the only form that has been clinically tested and found effective at raising NAD+ in human trials is the Niagen® form of NR. Other forms of NR have not been clinically tested or approved, and may not carry the benefits or guarantee of purity that the Niagen® form assures. All ProHealth NR supplements contain Niagen® NR.

Is nicotinamide riboside the same as niacinamide?

No. While they are both precursors to NAD+, and are both metabolites of vitamin B3, they have some key differences. Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a naturally occurring NAD+ precursor that is efficiently converted into NMN, which is then converted into NAD+. Niacinamide utilizes a series of enzymes in the NAD+ salvage pathway, which requires additional steps to regenerate NAD+.

What is nicotinamide riboside?

Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a derivative of vitamin B3 and functions as a precursor to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), a vital coenzyme found in every cell of the body. NAD+ plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including energy metabolism, DNA repair, cell signaling, and the regulation of circadian rhythms.

What is nicotinamide riboside in?

You can find nicotinamide riboside (NR) in the following products:

Nicotinamide Riboside Pro Complete 500
Nicotinamide Riboside Pro 500

Nicotinamide Riboside Pro 300

More NR products are continually added so check the Niagen® page for additional items that may fit your needs better.

Is nicotinamide riboside the same as niacin?

No. While both of these molecules are in the family of B3 vitamins and can both be converted into NAD+, they have some important differences. Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a naturally occurring NAD+ precursor that is efficiently converted into NMN, which is then converted into NAD+. Niacin requires several conversion steps to be converted into NAD+, and is often used for other cellular needs before it would enter this pathway.

What foods contain nicotinamide riboside?

Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) is found naturally in trace amounts in certain types of food, although the concentrations are generally quite low. Some of the food sources of NR include dairy products, baker’s and brewer’s yeast, and some fruits and vegetables. However, due to the miniscule amount of NR in these foods, there is not enough to make an appreciable difference in NAD+ levels in your body.

Is nicotinamide riboside safe?

Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is generally considered safe for human consumption with few rarely reported side effects, such as stomach discomfort and headache. Moreover, the Niagen® form of NR used in all ProHealth NR supplements has been approved by the FDA and is the only form that has shown clinical effectiveness in raising NAD+ levels in human trials, lending further weight to the safety of this ingredient.
