The Inequality runs deep…
The most crucial thing that’s “not equal” about the FDA is its prevalent pandering to big corporate interests above public health interests (google/bing “Tougher Supplement Regulation: A Necessity Or Politics? by Rolf Hefti”). ~Posted by: WilliamAkai, Jan 26, 2014
I have suffered with gut issues for 30 yrs (diagnosed with CFIDS in 1984). This past year I added cultured vegetables, kombucha and kefir to my diet. By eating these daily (I make all at home so cost effective), I no longer have a single issue. Kefir adds colonies of good bacteria in the gut: kombucha is a great detoxifier: and the veges up the probiotic and vitamin amounts. I formerly tried Xifaxan to no avail. My diet has always been wheat-free, sugar free and dairy free, however, until I added the above items, I still suffered daily. There is a great website I found while researching – www.culturedfoodlife.com, which taught me a lot. I have no affiliation with the site. ~Posted by: audrey19, Jan 26, 2014
I hope the dose was spread out!
30,000 IU or 60,000 IU per month. If they gave that to the people all at one time, it must have been Vitamin D2, not D3. I assume this was a divided dose, given as D3 as 1000 IU per day (30,000 IU monthly) or 2000 IU per day (60,000 IU monthly). These doses have been shown to be useful in other studies, so it’s no surprise that this study showed some improvement in people’s health. However, we all need to be aware that there are 2 sources of Vitamin D3: fish and lanolin. Read the labels. Some people are allergic to one form or the other, which may manifest itself as strong headaches. Make sure you try both forms, and slowly work your way up to the recommended dose 400 IU at a time. Remember that Vitamin D3 is actually a hormone, so think about it that way. I have personal overwhelming experience with improvements in health while taking Vitamin D3 every day. ~ Posted by: Sandy10m, Jan 25, 2014
New “Vaping” Technology
This is a fascinating concept. It seems the technology already exists with the e-cigarettes and wouldn’t it be nice to use it in a healthful way, rather than the addictive nicotine. I am curious as to when it will be available to the general public. I am a chronic pain patient and would love to be able to administer my Methadone in a vapor to achieve optimum effect. Keep us posted. ~ Posted by: email@example.com, Jan 24, 2014
