Description
Nattokinase is a systemic (works through the whole body) enzyme that is created when boiled soybeans are fermented with the probiotic bacteria Bacillus subtilis natto to create the traditional Japanese soy food called natto. In the 1980s, Dr. Hiroyuki Sumi at the University of Chicago isolated the circulation-promoting enzyme in natto and called it Nattokinase, meaning "enzyme from natto."
Research (including two small human trials) has shown Nattokinase supports healthy blood flow by assisting in the circulatory clearing system of the body. Specifically, Nattokinase supports the fibrinolytic clearing system in the body which is responsible for healthy circulation, by helping to break down fibrin protein deposits in the bloodstream to promote and enhance healthy blood flow.
Doctor’s Best Nattokinase (2000FU) 90VC contains 2,000 fibrinolytic units, which refers to the enzyme activity level. Enzymes, like Nattokinase, are not measured in mg, but in an unassociated measure of units. Even if the enzyme had 1,000mg per capsule but no activity, the enzyme would be worthless. Doctor’s Best Nattokinase has 2,000FU (units) of activity. This is a very high amount of activity.
